Seasonally Fickle Love:
Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia stands abandoned and alone for the winter.  The amusement park, unlike some of its cousins is closed during the colder months.  The cotton candy sky carries the sun west across the South behind it.

Hidden Los Angeles

-Alex and Jessie at the Old LA Zoo in Griffith Park-

Last night I went exploring with two friends at the abandoned zoo in Griffith Park here in the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.  I need to go to Griffith more regularly anyway, I forget that there’s a wilderness paradise in the middle of this metropolis that I call my adopted home.  The current LA Zoo is there as well, and it’s cool.  Though this one is decidedly creepier and more intriguing around 10pm-1am.  I took my camera along for the trip.  I was having some “wow we really have no light but my mounted strobe and that maglite” issues, but it was fun beyond that.  I’d love to go back with a generator and my studio strobes and really play there at some point.  Till then here’s some fun shots with fun friends, including a photo of Alex and I.  Alex is one of my oldest LA friends, whom I’ve known for almost ten years (yikes! We’re getting old!), and for whose presence in my life I am eternally grateful.

Chained gates mark the old cages that were far too small for the animals they housed.

Jessie inside one of the cages.

Not at all creepy in the middle of the woods in the wee hours of the night.

More caging.

Abandoned building on the path.

Bulb exposures can help with the creepy factor.

This was inside the abandoned building…

Walking the path.
